I'm a lifelong Hibernian fan and recently have been helping out their Community Foundation at events that need some photographic cover. It is a win/win as the Foundation get some quality images for their social media content and I get practice in real life situations so I can build skills before offering these services in the marketplace. Hopefully, having my name assosiated with the club will open up some opportunities for paid work too. Apart from all that it just feels the right thing to do and I enjoy the work and meeting all the fabulous individuals involved.
Hibs.net generously sponsors Girl's Academy
On the back of the Foundation I got an email from Paul at the Hibernian Girl's Academy asking if I could help with some images to advertise a new sponsor.. I was bound to silence over the sponsors but was delighted to hear that it was a very familiar name to me, Hibs.net. I have spent many an hour on that message board and it is an incredibly well run site considering the ups and downs that football fans face and the temptation to blow off steam after a loss with a post or two. Hibs.net has a history of generous donation to the club and I think they are the perfect sponsors for the Girl's Academy. Their sponsorship will mean all the age groups will wear the same kit for the first time and doesn't it look smart.
The job itself had some challenges with rain for the outdoor shoot meaning we only did a couple of shots. The tunnel and dressing room were good areas for single subjects but a bit harder to get good images featuring both the sponsors and the girls with their new strips. It all went well though and hopefully the Academy and Hibs.net find the images useful. For me it was an honour to play a small part in the announcement and a real privelege getting to photograph pitch side and in the dressing room and tunnel at my second home. Thanks to Paul for the invite and Hibs.net for their huge generousity.
